We have a safe place for you to connect with other dads (or those in a father-like position) who understand the things you are dealing with in your role as a caregiver of someone with an Intellectual disability/autism. You matter, and we have a place for you to have your voice heard! 

Advanced Waiver, Part 1

Join the PA Family Network Advisors in this 2-part workshop which will expand in more detail what was presented in the Waiver Basics Workshops and how waivers can support your loved one. 

  • Learn more about the various services defined under waivers and some of their limits, requirements, and options 
  • Guide participants on researching waivers, utilizing resources and understanding your rights and responsibilities 
  • Discussion of the various waiver document Appendices, Due Process, Fair Hearing and More

What is a Hybrid Model in Participant Direction? How Can It Help?

Families and Self-Advocates using Participant Direction often think that they are restricted to just that option. Find out how a hybrid model of traditional and self-directed services can sometimes be the best option. It doesn’t have to be either/or, it can be both. Let’s get creative! We’ll talk about:

  • The services that can be self-directed;
  • The difference between traditional models and self –direction;
  • How a hybrid model of service delivery may work for you!

Caregiver Support Group

We have a safe place, meeting EACH MONTH, for you to connect with other caregivers who understand the things you are dealing with and find the support you need as a caregiver. 

  • In this support group, we talk about stress, self-care, family dynamics, and more.  
  • We want to care for you as you care for your loved one(s).  
  • The last twenty (20) minutes of the meeting will focus on relaxation techniques and your loved ones are welcomed to join us at that time. 

Everyone Needs a Backup Plan!

Participant Direction requires that a backup plan be in place. This means that many people have to think creatively to meet this requirement! Let’s look at ideas for developing back-up plans and finding resources.

  • Participants will understand the importance of a back-up plan
  • Participant will be exposed to new ways of looking at their resources
  • Participants will be exposed to new ways of identifying or creating supports

Waiver Basics, Part 1

Participant Direction: Finding Answers & Support

Participant Direction can be confusing at times. It is important to know where to find answers to your questions and support when you need it! Learn about the role of support groups, Supports Coordination, Supports Brokers and where to find the right information when you need it.

  • Participants will learn about the role of the Supports Coordinator and Administrative Entity.
  • Participants will learn what a Supports Broker is, what they can do and how they differ from a Supports Coordinator
  • Participants will have resources to find accurate information on waivers, participant direction, and relevant topics.

Sibling Good Life Group

This group of adult siblings will have the opportunity to…  

  • Guide the group’s direction and network with other sibling 
  • Talk about your lived experience, hear from experts on topics relevant to sibling life, have open and informative discussions, and plan for a future that holds true potential for you and your family.
