Recent & Ongoing Projects

NEW! - CLIENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

Client Advisory Committee members are ambassadors to the community. They discuss satisfaction with services and ideas for improvement. The committee plans at least one workshop or social activity each year. In June 2009 they sponsored the dFs Family Reunion Picnic.

The committee is chaired by Russell Swauger who is on the agency board. Russell is the liaison between the committee and the Board of Directors. He reports suggestions to the Board. Russell is assisted by Jennifer Ketcham who is the committee secretary. Other current members of the committee are: Tina McMillan, April Barr, Marilyn Lapp, and Robert Mott.

ROBIN S. KRALEVICH MEMORIAL SCHOLORSHIP

Each year, dFs awards $500 to a college student who is currenlty enrolled in a human services major course of study. This Scholarship is in memory of Robin Kralevich who was a Sharpsville High School graduate and an employee of Diversified Family Services who died tragically in an automobile accident while on her way
home from work several years ago.

DONATE

Anyone wishing to make contributions to the dFs scholarship fund in honor or memory of another individual may do so by completing the donation form and returning it to dFs.

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

Every year in February, dFs participates in the "Go Red for Women" campaign, the American Heart Association initiative to create awareness for women and heart disease. Participating employees donate $5 to this National Wear Red Campaign in exchange for wearing red or demin. Each participate also receives a red and gold dress pin to display their support of the American Heart Association.

 

dFs employees participate in a number of projects which support our community.

In April 2007 a team of dFs employees participated in the first annual CASA bowl-a-thon, which was held at Sunset Lanes in Farrell, Pennsylvania. dFs sponsored the team of 10 bowlers to help suppport the endeavors of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

 

Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation

dFs employees have supported the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation for the past 8 years. In 2006, we participated in the Lee National Denim Day. Supporters donated $5 in exchange for wearing denim. As an extra opportunity to donate, supporters collected donations. All proceeds go to the foundation which provides breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

 

Macy's Shop For a Cause

In September 2006, dFs staff participated in the Macy's Shop for a Cause fundraiser. Staff sold discount cards for $5. Purchasers received a coupon good for $10 off one item and 20% off all shopping on Shop for a Cause day September 19th. Staff helped to raise $1,000 for the Robin Kralevich Memorial Scholarship Fund.
